General information
The Antilliana-Caribiana department is a growing library in itself: a library within a library, situated on the first floor of the main library. You do not have to be a member in order to consult our Antilliana-Caribiana collection.

In the Antilliana-Caribiana department you can find:

• Every publication in or about the Netherlands Antilles and Aruba
• Every publication by or about an Antillean or Aruban author
• Every publication on any Antillean or Aruban individual
• Caribbean publications for in-depth research

The Antilliana collection may be considered to be our national collection.
With the growing interest of residents and non-residents in the cultural, historical, socio-economic and political development of the Caribbean community an increase of the Caribbean collection was unavoidable

• Books written by Antillean authors
• Reference books about the Antilles and the Caribbean
• Antillean and Caribbean magazines
• A unique collection of historic and geographic maps (old and new)
• Community VIPs’ biographies
• Documentation about several Antillean topics
• (Doctoral) Theses of local people
• Important reports about Curaçao and the Netherlands Antilles
• Literary documentation about Antillean, Aruban and Caribbean authors: their lives and their works

The Antillean-Caribbean collection can only be consulted at the library. You can always make copies. However there are some books for circulation in the Adults’ Department and/or the Kids' Corner.

At our information desk, we can look for everything you need to complete your lecture for school, your so-called reading file or your final thesis. Visit us in time so that you can find the information you need and finish your assignment in time.
