Youth and Adults’ department
Located at the main library. You must be at least 14 years of age in order to borrow books in this section.

The collection consists of:

Exam books
We have a large collection of the so-called exam books in Dutch and a limited quantity of these books in Spanish and English. We also have some in French. Besides we have fiction and non-fiction books in Papiamentu, Dutch, English, Spanish and French. Here you will also find a collection of our Antilliana books, including novels and non-fiction books about several topics related to the Netherlands Antilles.

Literature reviews and summaries
There is an extensive collection of literature reviews and summaries in Dutch and English and a less extensive collection in Spanish, French and German. If you want to consult those in Dutch, you may use the books at our information desk or the CD-ROM (‘Uittrekselbank’ and ‘Fictierom’) installed on our computers in this department. Please ask for literature reviews and summaries in other languages at our information desk.

Digital documentation
There is a CR-ROM, containing digital information about several themes, installed on all the computers in our Youth and adults’ department. You may use this information for school projects or if you are specifically interested in a certain subject. Some of the most consulted subjects are: pollution, drugs, venereal diseases, crime, youth pregnancy and alcohol, among other things.

Audio-visual aids
We have informative and recreational videos, which you can borrow and enjoy at home. Before you borrow them, you may watch part of them at our information desk. We will soon offer DVD!

And also …. computer square
Here you can surf on the Internet, send emails or type a text and in the afternoon, from 2 to 5 pm, there is a guide to help you work on computers and find your way on the Internet All this for free! You can make printouts for a small sum.

We also have a photocopier just in case that you cannot or do not want to borrow certain materials.

Information desk
At our information desk we can help you find books or information you need either for school or out of your personal interest. You can also find books of reference for quick consulting such as dictionaries and encyclopedias.
Don’t hesitate to ask for help, we are there to help you.

Study groups
The Youth and Adults’ department offers you the possibility to study in groups. If you want to study individually and silently, you can make use of the reference room on the first floor.
